10 Tips For Long-Term Customer Retention

  1. Call each customer by name. (This goes with email communications especially)
  2. Listen to what each customer has to say. (Listen with both your eyes and ears.)
  3. Be concerned about each customer as an individual. (They are all individual people.)
  4. Be courteous at all times. (To everybody! You are (soon will become) unflappable.)
  5. Be responsive to the individual needs of each customer.
  6. Know your customer’s personal buying histories and motivations. (Talk to them. Ask them.)
  7. Take sufficient time with each customer. (Don’t give them the bum’s rush. They will sense it.)
  8. Involve customers in your business. Ask for their advice and suggestions.
  9. Make customers feel important. Pay them compliments. (Read #9 ten more times.)
  10. Listen first to understand the customer. Then speak so they can understand you.
