These tips in from Nolan Burris.
- It’s always worth mentioning that you can have as many different alerts going as you like, and you can delete each any time.
- Every business should have an alert going on their name, and probably their travel agent’s names. Why? Because people are posting reviews, blogging about them, etc. both positive and negative. They’ll want to know when that happens. This is one of the best ways.
- One of my favorite real-world example for a travel agent: suppose a client wants to have a big event, a conference at the Hyatt LAX. Or maybe a 2nd honeymoon at a beach resort. But you find out the hotel is closed for renovations. The client asks you to let them know when the renovations are complete.
Yeah right! But with Google Alerts you can! Create an alert like this: “Hyatt LAX renovations complete.” One day, you’ll get an email and you will be a superstar.
Here’s a few more examples:
– “AIRLINE BAGGAGE FEES INCREASING”
– “AIRLINE BAGGAGE FEES DECREASING”
– “HURRICANE COZUMEL”
– “AIRPORT SECURITY CHANGES”
– “{competitor’s name}”
– “{your agency name}”
- For corporate agencies, create an alert for your top clients company names, and executive’s names. You’ll learn about promotions, expansion plans, announcements, press releases etc. All of which can improve relationships.
- For leisure agencies, do EXACTLY the same as #6 above – remember your LEISURE clients usually have jobs! Congratulating them or even just commenting of their professional stuff showing up online builds relationships.
