Driving up from Baltimore the other day I found myself tuned into one of those radio call-in talk shows. You know the ones. When people call a stranger to straighten out their lives in less than a New York minute.
To kill a few hundred miles, I thought I would eaves drop on these words of wisdom.
A young man called in seeking financial advice for his recently laid off father who happened to be a skilled mechanic. The host of the radio program sounded like he was going to wet himself with excitement and repeatedly told the caller that his dad was in the cat-bird seat.
Why?
- Because he was a skilled mechanic who knew what he was doing.
- Because he was mature and knew how to treat people and talk to them.
- Because he could provide needy citizens with a service they could trust and afford.
- Because people today are hungry to find a skilled anybody who knew what they were doing, knew how to treat people, provide a service people could trust and afford.
This man had it all and the marketplace was looking for guys like him.
I loved this message and thought of you, my readers. (If you are reading this, you are one of my readers. Capiche?)
Read the bullets above and if this is you, then you too are in the cat-bird seat. All you have to do is to get up, get out, and make more people aware that you are alive and ready to spring into action at a moment’s notice.
Now, get out there and make more people glad they know you.
